I spent 6 years in the Armed Forces but unfortunately I was injured and my career was cut short.
I had to retrain and ended up working in IT (which I hated), so I found myself looking for something else. After trying a number of jobs, from care worker to door-to-door salesman, I was introduced to VWD.
I had been involved with VWD for a year, but due to other business commitments, had put it to one side. But no matter what we did, the other business ideas didn’t take off.
So when we attended the ‘Wild Fire’ Seminar back in November 2005, the penny dropped and we understood exactly what we had on our hands. So we went away with a plan and started to play both lotteries for free.
At the end of February this year I had a meeting with Ian Orford, who shared some priceless information with me: “The money is in the list”. Ian made this business very simple when he said “It’s your job to show it to people and then let them decide”. Well, that’s easy! I didn’t have to convince anybody. All I had to do was show them.
I set myself the goal of becoming an Executive Affiliate by the end of June by building a group of 100 members and I made a plan to achieve it.
I started by putting out 500 flyers each day, and I gave a business card to everybody I spoke to. I began to collect 20 names and email addresses a day from the people I spoke to. I walked into shops, stopped people in the street, spoke to bus drivers, doctors, solicitors, and bank clerks and I asked them “Do you play the Lottery?” If their answer was “Yes”, I’d ask “Would you like to play it for Free?” If they said “Yes” I would ask them for an email address.
If the person said that they didn’t play the lottery, I’d ask “Would you like to play it for free?” If they said “Yes”, I’d ask them for their email address.
If they said that they didn’t want to play for free, I replied “I am staggered you don’t want a free chance to become a Millionaire!" They would then give me an email address.
I collected 400 email addresses doing this, but there was a problem – three-quarters of the emails were wrong and bounced back. And out of those that were correct, only 20% ever read the email I’d sent them. So from all that hard work only 3 people joined.
It felt like I was banging my head against a nuclear reactor; I needed a solution. So I started to put 500 business cards out every day and went back to our frogs list, sending the DVD to as many people as possible.
With Paul Watt’s help, we started to capture data and learned a valuable lesson: “don’t give anything away without capturing information”. So you make contact and follow it up….and make a fortune.
With all this activity we achieved our goal with two weeks to spare! And as an added bonus we have helped our friend and fellow Affiliate John Byrne to go on to the next level on the VWD Ladder of Success. He is now a Senior Affiliate.......WELL DONE JOHN!! On top of that his cheque has grown by £800 every four weeks because of our work.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
